the only feature I see as useful from this is the mixer thing. the fx and other stuff are not going to be that useful because the built in fx in mpcs are mostly garbage

I have been to several forums and most of the people writing about the MPC 5000 are slamming it and saying the MPC 4000 is better. Let me remind you guys about your beloved MPC 4000 debut. When the MPC 4000 made it to studios across the world, the forums for the MPC 4000 looked just like the forums for the MPC 5000. Learn how to use it or put it in the hands of someone who can.

Akai are scam artists!!! Everything they make is beyond overpriced so real hiphop cats like myself can't afford it. Its BS, like you look at the MPC 1000 its built like a fisher price toy and goes for $1000!!! I make beats with an sp-404 and old school akai rackmount gear like s-950 and s-1000, only cuz their like 150 used lol. I'd love to own an MPC 2500 or MPC 4000 but I'd have to jack someone to get it. And no way would I jack a fellow producer.....but an akai dealership maybe lol

it really depends. technically you wouldn't need anything else, but if you were serious you would probably want some kind of software like pro tools for tracking and a keyboard or sound module for synth sounds

depending on your style, once you purchase any of the mpc's, you always have the options to expand. Most producers i know of, dont add anything else when they have their mpc. They just use records to sample off of, and thats it. I for one like the midi capabilities of the mpc, but with the 5000, the ui and work flow changed so drastically, it really made the efforts more of an obstacle. I really hope they fix some of these issues soon. |
