the initial reaction to this ballet was good...NOT, people threw a hissy fit over how unorthodox it was. Stupid conformists who had to critize everything that wasn't in the norm at the time

ugh who is this bassoonist!!!! instead of playing triplets with grace notes he changes the rhythm every time to straight eights.... what do you think Stravinsky would say about you changing his rhythms???

Worth reading the book ¨Rites of Spring¨ by canadian historian Modris Eksteins where he relates Stravinsky/Diaghilev's ballet with the pre-War moral and artistic mind of Europe.This work could be also called ¨The rites of war¨. |
