Also does anyone remember the post race interview with Steve Ovett where he broke down in a flood of tears? I would like to see that again.

Just watched this race for the first time in 19 years and remember it like yesterday, Coe was absolutely awsome! Didn't expect to see this clip on youtube.

Great video - I cannot help feel depressed, however, about ovett's relatively modest performance. It breaks my heart not to see him stalking his opponents then waving to the crowd on the home straight as he contemptuously sped past them. Do not go meekly into that dark night RAGE! RAGE! against the dying of the light.

What was his time in the last last?

I think it was somewhere around 1986/87 - it was a 1500 or mile consisting of, to be honest, 2nd and 3rd rate uk and overseas milers - but still - it was a "roy of the rovers" dream comeback and in fact he won by about 15 metres! More spectacular than the 1989 race above.

No, I don't remember that one! Would love to know more about it or even see it if anyone knows which race it was. I know he fell over with about 2 laps to go in a 1500m in Paris in '83. He must have lost about 40m on that occasion, and although he got back with the leaders, was beaten on the line by Jose Luis Gonzales. I only saw the end of that race, but have never seen all of it. He still managed 3:35, but that was the season where he got gradually worse with toxoplasmosis.

There was another race in the UK in which coe fell in a 1 miler. He lost 40 m with 2 laps to go and came back to win. Anyone remember it?
