No you numbskull, the presumption of innocence applies to people CHARGED under the CRIMES ACT! The Migration Act is an ADMINISTRATIVE Act. I think your real problem is that you have little to know understanding of the legal system and are trying to apply your ignorance to an issue you don't understand.
cleaverwielder (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
Oh dear lord, I suppose the presumption of innocence only applies to "aussies" does it. What a load of agenda serving bollocks. As for Xenophobia I said nothing of it but funny you did. And you say annual intake as if there should be an annual intake? We don't set quota's on the amount of children people have, it's just cruel and unfair, one set of rights and laws for people born here, another, harsher, less humane set for those who wish to come here.

Criminals guilty of rape, murder, armed hold-up, child molestation, fraud, etc. Nearly all detainees at Villawood have had their visas cancelled under s501 of the Migration Act on character grounds. Having served custodial sentences, they are awaiting removal from Australia. Don't imply that I'm xenophobic for pointing out facts. That's just lazy argument. As for economic refugees, they destroy the opportunities of legitimate claimants by illegitimately taking a place on the annual intake!
cleaverwielder (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
Criminals? Guilty of what crime? Irrespective of your Boltesque propoganda about their true nature why is that even a problem? Why is someone born overseas not entitled to the same luxuries as someone who by chance was fortunate enough to be born here. I visit Villawood each fortnight and the stories I hear would make any compassionate human beings heart break, but ofcourse you'd just say they're lying wouldn't you. You can't trust them, they don't look like us.

As for Keating on reconcilliation, he was a true champion. Rudd took on the task Howard ignored. These people truly deserve justice for the wrongs we have committed. Not bogus refugees seeking to exploit our humanitarian programs and judicial system for economic purpposes!
ads998 (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
Are you even aware of the extraordinary number of false refugee claims Immigration receive yearly? Most people claiming asylum do so for economic reasons. Trust me, I work for DIAC and see it daily! All migration agents advise their clients to make asylum claims purely in order to exhaust yet another migration pathway. If you think Immigration Detention is a cruel and unusual punishment you really should grow up! less than 1% of detaineed are 'refugees', ther rest are criminals awaiting removal.
