He said the pinky ring comment,just to say, that he's not telling you not to buy jewelry or preaching that the purchasing of diamonds is bad. Hes just giving you the background and information you wouldn't know as to what there used for and how they are obtained. Hes just broadening your view of everything. Such as eating fast food.You know its unhealthy but many people don't know exactly what its composed of and whats been put in it.Though ppl know its unhealthy doesn't mean they don't eat it
