Agreed. He's so refreshingly unpretentious.

It's pretty awesome to hear his voice. If you read The Road, you can COMPLETELY hear him narrating it...
Mexicang213 (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
you have to read The Road thats actually inspired me to write again

I've had a hard time getting into Suttree. I hope it gets better. Anyone read it?

Child of god is about a brutal man who is wrongly accused of rape, the idea of the story is that even though he is a terrible man who has commited terrible acts he got away with in the past doesn't make it right to accuse him of something he did not do, Its really a great book,

What's "Child of God" about? I'm really into James Carlos Blake right now, but I'm planning on reading "The Road."Blake's "The Pistoleer" is great.

"Life is pretty damn good." Wow, I appreciate him even more. There are two kinds of artists: those who dont find resolutions out of art like Ernest Hemingway and Kurt Cobain and those who get down to the whole business of living like McCarthy. Rock on, man!
saphiriffic (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
I have lived in Chicago for 4 years and have read his books. Whoever said that no one in Chicago knows of McCarthy is silly. And I would have to say that at least 1/2 of Chicago's population doesn't care for Oprah...including myself.

I saw him once in Sante Fe. The Roadwas inspired by him gazing across El Paso, which does resemble a wasteland most of the time. |
