Do you know the name of exit music? It's called "That's A Plenty."

Good point, although - truth be told - CBS ended up paying the fortunes for years. I remember the CBS lore about The Great One showing up at a negotiating session and passing out, and Bill Paley or one of his subordinates saying something like "If that's his attitude, let's give him the money." As Dizzy Dean said, if you can do it, it ain't bragging.

Robert Hall was a suit company best known in New York.

This is great. Just the Great One in front of the curtain at his charismatic best.

Brad Garrett of "Everybody Loves Raymond" fame played Jackie in the 2002 TV movie "Gleason." He did a good job of it.

This period shows Jackie when he was much more humble, and not ransoming himself to the network for fortunes.

love that little opening show dance he does at the end

Dig Jackie Gleason's natty music director at the beginning -- Ray Bloch, who was also the orchestra leader for Ed Sullivan. Later, of course, would come Sammy Spear (and his flashy dinner jackets). |
