When I watch this skit, I'm reminded of the SCTV skit/commercial in which Catherine O'Hara played a woman who hadn't heard from her friend in years, constantly talking about her and how she never called while the phone rings in the background. Eventually, all her neighbors come in, pick her up and take her to the hospital, convinced that there's something wrong with her, when there isn't. The announcer then says, 'Get the long distance feeling...before its too late.'

There's a reference to what she did at that funeral in the 90 minute play (posted on here in several parts). Eunice was pissed because her famous literay brother was ushered into the first limousine, while Eunice was shoved in the last car.

Maybe you're thinking of a similar episode, where the family is at Mama's having breakfast, and she's made cream of wheat, and Ed is putting butter on it, and Mama yells out "that butter costs money ya know!?!?"
