"You can't admit that socialism is stealing from some to give to others."Socialism is not what I'm arguing for. At least, not in the extreme that you are probably talking about. I'm for reasonable progressive policies that put US citizens to work instead of shipping those jobs overseas. Your definition of stealing, however, appears to be tied to income tax. You rant against socialism in general but don't admit that income taxes and 'big govt' exist with socialist and capitalist leaders.

The dictators and corruption happened as a direct result of the CIA-sponsored military coups. Before Pinochet, for example, Salvador Allende was the democratically elected president of Chile. It was Pinochet who implemented a military junta, suppressed opposition using "disappearances" to secret jails, and was a dictator. The US-sponsored coups of Chile, Argentina, and Peru are just 3 examples of interventionism using our tax dollars. Your argument of 100 years without intervention is false.

You never stated that you were against income tax so how could I know that was your complaint? All you did was rant about being "in bondage" and being "forced" to do things. I was making my position very clear; I'm against corporations being deregulated so they can maximize profits while not having any responsibility for worker's rights, health, & safety and tax dollars being used for corporate global expansion. How's that convoluted?

She makes a strong argument for a socialist (a snail communist) like yourself. And your argument points to countries where dictators and corruption ruled. Why don't you use the US an example for over 100 years without Government intervention? Why don't you read the opposing view?
gold95 (September 6, 2008 at 11:53 am)
Let me do what you do.So you are for the Income tax??PS. You know quite well what my questions were, but since an admission to your own position would be fatal, which by the way you hide by diverting your position through convoluted statements and bouncing back ridiculous questions. You can't admit that socialism is stealing from some to give to others. You can't admit that there is no right under any moral or legal authority to steal from people. Instead you try to state my position.

How can I answer and defend my position if the topic of conversation is convoluted? Instead of making a clear statement of the topic and your position on the topic you have done nothing but make vacuous statements about "bondage" and taking your "property" away. Pick a topic and state your position if you want a discussion. Quit accusing people of "dancing" around a question that hasn't been asked. It took several posts to get you to admit you're against income tax.

Instead of answering and defending YOUR position, you try to throw the question back at me. LOL you are a riot Of course I dont think there should be any direct tax (theft) on labor. What makes you think there should?
JoeyRamone63 (September 5, 2008 at 3:59 pm)
Are you saying that there shouldn't be ANY

Klein's book makes a strong case against *unfettered* free markets. The problem isn't capitalism per se; it's unregulated corporations who benefit from shock therapy economics. Read the book; you'll get a better understanding of how this has worked in Peru, Argentina, Russia, and now Iraq.

This video offended me.Ms. Klein expect us to accept her good feelings and 'social awareness', along with the words profit and money tinted red as facts and empirical evidence for her view of huge, benevolent and service-providing bureaucracy.Unfortunately ( for her ) free trade and free enterprise is the only thing that has been able to pull mankind from absolute misery. Where globalization went, conditions improved.
