Ok folks here is the idea:There is this Steven Jay list of 1001 movies you must see before you die ( http://www.listsofbests.com/li... )and though I don't totally agree with the choices (no Ed Wood, No Barbarella, No Duel), it brought some forgotten gems to my attention so that I'm currently working my way through the list (I'm nearly halfway there). Along the way I had unwittingly done a few videos using footage from various films on said list and I thought it would be a really good thing to eventually have 1001 videos that will cover all of Steven Jay's picks individually. For that, of course, I need your help. So what I want you to do is: Get the list, choose your favourites and create a video that is based on only one movie at a time. It doesn't has to be the rather easy music clip thing that I do. Whatever takes your fancy really. Then join http://www.youtube.com/group/1... and submit your video. But please be creative and don't just add the official trailer.List of films already covered in chronological order:1. Häxan - Bejamin Christensen (1922)2. Metropolis - Fritz Lang (1927) 3. Frankenstein - James Whale (1931)4. A Day in the Country - Jean Renoir (1936)5. Bringing up Baby - Howard Hawks (1938)6. Gone with the Wind - Victor Fleming (1939)7. Casablanca - Michael Curtiz (1942)8. Gilda - Charles Vidor (1946)9. The Red Shoes - Powell/Pressburger (1948)10. The Third Man - Carol Reed (1949)11. Los Olvidados - Luis Bunuel (1950)12. The Cranes are flying - Mikhail Kalatozov (1957)13. Some like it hot - Billy Wilder (1959)14. La Jetée - Chris Marker (1962)15. Goldfinger - Guy Hamilton (1964)16. Repulsion - Roman Polanski (1965)17. Daisies - Vera Chytilová (1966)18. Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! - Russ Meyer (1966)19. Bonnie and Clyde - Arthur Penn (1967)20. Cool Hand Luke - Stuart Rosenberg (1967)21. Night of the living dead - George A. Romero (1968)22. Sayat Nova - Sergei Parajanov (1968)23. 2001: A Space Odyssey - Stanley Kubrik (1969)24. The Wild Bunch - Sam Peckinpah (1969)25. Aguirre, the Wrath of God - Werner Herzog (1969)26. Fantastic Planet - René Laloux (1973)27.The Texas Chain Saw Massacre - Tobe Hooper (1974)28. Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles - Chantal Akerman (1976)29. Stroszek - Werner Herzog (1977)30. Days of Heaven - Terrence Malick (1978)31. Koyaanisqatsi - Godfrey Reggio (1982)32. The Unbelievable Truth - Hal Hartley (1989)33. Satantango - Béla Tarr (1994)34. In the Mood for Love - Kar Wai Wong (2000)35. Bus 174 - José Padilha / Felipe Lacerda (2002)As you can see, we've still got a long way to go.Pink Martini 's debut Sympathique opens with Amado Mio. The song was written by Doris Fischer and Allan Roberts and became famous with the Film Noir classic Gilda from 1946. Though Rita Hayworth made the song popular, it isn't her voice that you hear in the film, but that of Anita Ellis. So I guess its ok, to dub it again, now with the voice of China Frobes, if I'm not mistaken. If you enjoyed this video and feel halfway rock'n'rollesque, please join: http://www.youtube.com/group/m... http://imdb.com/title/tt003855... http://www.pinkmartini.com/

It's appropriate, I guess, since Rita Hayworth never sang on film, she was always dubbed by one of two or three studio singers. The singer who dubbed her in Gilda was "Anita Ellis"

The music does not hold the weight of the diva's movements. Pink Martini should had let this song just be! Sorry but this music is making Rita look like a striper. I won't change the original with anything.
